About the course
The NCFE Level 2 VRQ in Safeguarding Children and Young People is an ideal qualification for those who work with children and young people. This includes youth workers, care workers, local authority staff, school support staff and voluntary workers.
This qualification has been developed in response to the Every Child Matters: Change for Children agenda. The qualification is supported by the Children’s Workforce Development Council (CWDC), THE Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) and Lifelong Learning UK (LLUK).
The qualification aims to enable learners to understand what is meant by safeguarding by other children and young people, and through the internet. The qualification aims to develop the skills and knowledge needed to safeguard the welfare of children and young people.
What you learn
To achieve the full qualification, each candidate must complete 3 mandatory units:
Unit 1: Explore and understand roles in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
Unit2: Understand legislation and policies which safeguard children and young people.
Unit3: Develop personal skills to effectively contribute to the safeguarding of children and young people.
Delivery of the qualification is through two structured full training and assessment days in groups of 10.
The cost per candidate is £200. This can be delivered in-house if you have a group of 10 candidates or individuals can attend college premises with candidates from other establishments. Individual assessment in the workplace can be carried out at a cost of £450 per candidate.
