About the course
This programme covers many aspects of complementary therapy, both theoretical and practical.
Generally more suited to the mature student or younger students who are already working part time in industry or with no previous experience but a passion for complementary therapies.
This qualification is recognised both nationally and internationally at commercial level and is also recognised for progression to the higher education sector. The highly motivated staff who teach on this programme are anticipating working with enthusiastic, dedicated and pro-active students who wish to become successful complementary therapists.
What will I learn?
- Principles and practices for complementary therapists.
- Business practices for complementary therapists.
- Health, safety and hygiene for complementary therapists.
- Knowledge of anatomy, physiology & pathology for complementary therapists.
- Knowledge of less common pathology for complementary therapists.
- Providing body massage therapy for complementary therapists.
- Reflective practice for body massage.
- Provide aromatherapy.
- Reflective practice for aromatherapy.
- Provide reflexology.
- Reflective practice for reflexology.

How will I be assessed?
Students will be assessed though practical observations, oral questioning and assignments.
What are the entry requirements?
- 4 GCSEs at grade A-C including English and Maths, or;
- Beauty/complementary qualification at level 2.
Life skills will be taken into account for direct entry mature students. References will be required for all candidates and final selection will be made through interview. A work placement is not required for this programme, however should you wish to find work experience this would be encouraged.

Future Opportunities
People working in complementary therapies are usually self employed and work in the private sector, charging individuals for treatment.
