About the course
This programme is aimed at those wanting to work in the animal management sector. The course provides learners with underpinning knowledge of animal health, husbandry and welfare. Learners also receive practical animal related skills.

Qualifications needed to start
- A- Level at Grade E, plus three other subjects at GCSE grade C or above, or;
- National Certificate/Diploma – an overall pass in a subject relevant to the course chosen, or;
- Other relevant full level 3 qualification, or;
- Access Certificate.
- In addition we require GCSE English or equivalent, and;
- GCSE Mathematics or equivalent.
We welcome applications from those who have few or non-standard qualifications but a wealth of work and life experience, commitment and ability. Applicants in this group will be invited to interview or provide a portfolio of evidence to support their application.
All students must demonstrate before starting the course either through qualifications or testing at interview that they have the required literacy skills to complete the course. Students are also made aware that it may be a requirement of progression on to a top up degree that they have both English and Mathematics GCSE at Grade C. Students who do not have these qualifications have the opportunity to gain them whilst at College.
After the course
The College has an agreed progression route from this qualification on to the BSc. Animal Management at Leeds City College. However you can also apply to other Universities to do top up degrees or progress onto a related career path.
