About the course

Every Technology Campus Apprentice has their own Work Place Support Officer who is based in the Work Based Learning Unit. They will visit you at your workplace and maintain close links with your employer and tutors. There will always be someone to help you as you work with your employer and support and guide you for the duration of your apprenticeship.

What you learn

NVQ level 2 Vehicle Body Repair consists of 6 units:

  • Contribute to Workplace housekeeping.
  • Health and Safety.
  • Working with Others.
  • Removing and replacing a number of non-structural, non-welded body panels e.g. doors, wings, bonnets and tailgates.
  • Removing and replacing a non-structural, welded body panel e.g. an outer rear panel.
  • Carrying out minor body panel repairs, involving the use of panel beating hand tools, body filling, repairing plastic bumpers and sanding down in preparation for paint refinishing.

Entry Requirements

  • Complete initial assessment (which consists of literacy/numeracy and an Industry specific trade test).
  • Individual interview with a member of the Motor Vehicle team.

Qualifications needed to start

You are required to have a GCSE grade D or above in Maths, English and Science. Please call the WBL Unit for further information.

What’s next

At the end of the course you will have a nationally recognised NVQ level 2 qualification in Vehicle Body & Paint Operations (Vehicle Body Repair), a City & Guilds progression award in Automotive Vehicle Servicing & Repair level 2 – Vehicle Body Repair and Key Skills at level 1. With these you can progress onto a skilled technician role or alternatively you may wish to progress onto an Advanced Apprenticeship.
