Sport, Do you want an active career? Join us!

The world of sport is an exciting place to work. We have three pathways that lead to your dream career in Sport: Sport Science, Sports Therapy, or Coaching/Training. Our department at Leeds City College allows you to tailor your study programme around three key areas. By tailoring your options, you can improve your opportunity to progress into university, apprenticeships and employment.

We have excellent partners across the city who provide you with valuable work experience and apprenticeships that help develop practical skills needed for the next step in your career.

For 16-18 year olds, we have full time study programmes and apprenticeships that give you knowledge, understanding and skills for university and work. For adults we have a range of apprenticeships and part time courses delivered in the day and on an evening to support people to change careers or just gain new skills for fun.

If you are keen to play sport alongside your course, our academies in Football, Cricket and Rugby give students the opportunity to train and play up to four times per week with regular fixtures against other colleges.

We also run a successful partnership with Collegiate Soccer, which allows our students the opportunity to secure scholarships at American universities so that students can develop as footballers alongside study.

For those students involved in an elite pathway in their sport, the department has a long tradition of successfully supporting athletes to help maximise their playing potential while achieving on their sports course. Our roll call of students include internationals in football, rugby, gymnastics, athletics and aquatics.

We are very proud of our staff who are able to bring lessons to life by using examples from their current practice outside of college as coaches in elite sport, sports therapists and trainers in the fitness industry.
