This 1 year course is designed to give students a basic understanding of food preparation, cooking and presentation needed in the hospitality industry.

It will involve a practical and theoretical approach including active participation in local events and work placement.

How you will be assessed

Assessment will take place at the end of your programme in both a theory and practical.  Support will be given throughout the year in readiness for this. 

Where is the course delivered (facilities / classrooms)

The course is delivered in our brand new facilities at the Printworks Campus.  

You will have an opportunity to study in the practical training kitchens and the Food Academy @ Printworks restaurant, where you can hone your skills under the expert eye of your subject tutors.

Entry requirements

Suitable for school leavers or those wanted to gain a career within professional cookery. 

No formal qualifications are required however a strong interest in working as a chef within the hospitality industry and a basic standard within English and maths is a must.

What's next

Students can progress onto a Level 3 Apprenticeship standard in Chef du Partie or Level 3 Diploma Professional Cookery where they can develop their skills and knowledge further.
