School Leavers

Maybe school is not quite for you, and you want to experience college life in preparation for further education, higher study or work?

Whether you want a college qualification alongside school studies, or to take the jump into college life full time, we can help you take the next steps.

For many years, Leeds City College has been offering students aged 14 to 19 the opportunity to study with us one day per week while still on the roll of their school or SILC. You can find out more about the courses that are available here

In September 2013 our 14+ Apprenticeship Academy opened. The Academy offers an exciting alternative to Years 10 and 11 for young people aged 14+. You can find further information here.

From the summer of 2015, all young people in England must continue in education or training until their 18th birthday. This does not mean, however, that you must stay in school; you can choose one of the following options post-16:

  • Full-time education (school or college)
  • Work-based learning or apprenticeships
  • Part-time education or training if employed, self-employed
  • Volunteering full-time training for more than 20 hours a week

Since 2013, all full-time 16-19 students have also been required to study English and maths if they have not achieved a GCSE Grade C or above in these subjects. Students have the opportunity to participate in work experience activities, tutorials, coaching/ mentoring and other taught courses to improve employability skills.

Whatever your aspirations, we can help you find the path that suits your own specific needs.
